Hundreds of activists and public figures from
the United States participated in the first plenary of the virtual conference
produced by the Yesha Council, the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), and
the "My Israel" organization. This is the second year that the
conference has been held successfully online. The ZOOM conference is held in
three plenary sessions on Sundays, intending to present important contemporary
issues and future development in Judea and Samaria.
In the first meeting this year, the critical
importance of Judea and Samaria to the success of Israel’s national economy
took center stage. Featured speakers included: MK Nir Barkat; MK Ofir Akunis;
United States House of Representative from Texas, Louis Gohmert; Yigal Dilmoni,
CEO of the Yesha Council; Sarah Haetzni Cohen, Chairwoman of "My
Israel"; Mort Klein, CEO of ZOA; Dan Iluz, Director of ZOA Operations in
Israel and Dr. Yechiel Leiter, Shiloh Forum. Subsequent conference meetings
will be held on February 20 and March 6.
MK Nir Barkat presented his economic plan as a
solution to the conflict and as the vehicle for the substantial improvement of
quality of life for all residents of Judea and Samaria. Barkat: "The more
opportunities the Arabs in Judea and Samaria have for cooperation in the
economic realm, the better their quality of life will be. And where there is
more cooperation, there is more security."
Louis Gohmert, member of the U.S. House of
Representatives from Texas passionately stated: "Israel will not be able
to defend its borders and its citizens without Judea and Samaria being part of
the State of Israel. Opponents Zionism and Israel’s rights to Judea and Samaria
know this and therefore act to rip the Biblical heartland from the State of
Israel. The United States is a true friend of the State of Israel and it is
right and moral that it continues to support it in every way."
Sara Haetzni Cohen, Chairwoman of the “My
Israel” movement said: "Precisely at this time, when a geographical
distancing has been imposed on us by Corona, it is important to continue to
engage with hundreds of our partners from around the world in strategic matters
that are at the core of our identity and right to exist in a Jewish and
democratic state. This conference in one in a series of steps we are taking to
present our truth and connect the world to it. "
Dan Iluz, Director of Israel Operations for
the Zionist Organization of America, emphasized the following: "Despite the
policies of the current administration and the line of the progressive wing of
the extreme left, in large parts of the United States there is still huge
support for Judea and Samaria and the hundreds of participants in today’s
conference prove that fact. As we heard from each of the speakers today, Judea
and Samaria are not the problem, but actually the solution to regional economic
growth, a solution to regional peace, and the key to the Jewish identity of the
State of Israel. "
